YouTube is a free online location to store and showcase your videos. You do not need to be a computer guru to know how to use this source and this video will show you in steps how to upload a video that you have created and stored to your computer.

What you need first:

1         You need an email address (and need to know how to check email)

2         You need a video that is stored on your computer (see FAQ: insert ‘how to upload video to computer’ link in FAQ)

Now for the how-to

1         open a browser like Internet Explorer

2         Find the address bar on the top of your browser

3         Type in the following information:         www.youtube.com

4         On the top of the page is a link called Sign Up … click it

5         You will see the fields:

a.       email address

b.      password

c.       Re-Type Password

d.      Username

e.      Location

f.        Postal Code

g.       Date of Birth

h.      Gender

i.         Word Verification

j.        Check box: let others find…

k.       Check Box: I agree

6         You need to enter real information for these fields.

7         Note: if you want people to find your video through a search on sites like google, you should click the first box. You have to click the ‘I agree’ box and fill all other fields to finish this process.

8         There is a chance that someone has used the account name that you want to use so click on the Check Availability link to be sure.

9         Click     Create my account  to continue

10     Now go to your email to find they sent you something

11     Click on the message that says    Confirm your email address that is located in your email.

12     It opened a browser window to YouTube where you can enter your username and password… do that now

13     They may ask for a second confirmation sent to your email… if they do you have to repeat step 10

14     Now that you are logged in, you can see on your page a button on the top right that says in yellow ‘Upload’ click that.

15     Click on the button ‘upload video’ toward the center of the screen

16     It will popup a window to find your stored video

17     Find it and click ‘open’

18     It is now uploading your movie

19     NOTE: it is better to copy the original file to your computer than upload it directly from your camera to the site (faster)

20     You should type in a title that is right for the video so it is easier to find.

21     The description shows others the pertinent information about the clip

22     The word ‘tags’ are the words that you want people to use to randomly find your video (see FAQ internet ranking)

23     The category is required and it is the location that they store your video for others to see… find the one that matches the best.

24     If you choose Private then you assign the viewers for the video. If you choose ‘share your video with the world’ then everyone can see it if they want.

25     Click    save changes

26     Now you are done uploading and are part of the YouTube community.

27     You can see your videos that you uploaded through the next page that pops up by clicking on the ‘Go To My Videos’ button
